MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - A Memphis man faces charges in the murder of a married couple whose four children woke up to find them dead in the living room.

Ricky Durham, 25, is locked up in the Shelby County Jail without bond on two counts of first-degree murder.

On April 24, 2014, the 7-year-old daughter of James and Danielle Alexander woke up to go to school only to find her parents shot dead in the living room.

According to an affidavit of complaint, investigators say Durham admitted to being inside the house where the couple died. Police say Durham told them he did not shoot the Alexanders, but that he did take their TV.

"My reaction is, um, finally," said Danielle's mother, Dujuna England. "And what I would say to him is, 'I forgive you. Ask God to forgive you.'"

Court records show that Durham is a confirmed member of the Grape Street Crips gang. He has previous burglary and weapons charges in Shelby County.

Dujuna and her husband, George, were just grandparents. But now, they are back to being parents. James and Danielle's four children are now living with them.

Dujuna says the kids are doing "a little bit better" since making the grisly discovery.

"You know, they're still heartbroken. They've kinda got the understanding a little bit that, 'OK, she's not coming back,'" said Dujuna. "She [Danielle] was a good mom to her children and she was always there for us. So, she's a great loss to us."

"I pray that good things will come out of this and I believe that it will," said George. "Any time you hurt somebody, you hurt somebody's daughter or somebody's husband or somebody's father."

The murder happened at 2699 Enterprise in Orange Mound. Friends and loved ones have dropped off teddy bears and written messages in marker on the front of the house.

Durham is in jail on no bond. He is due in court Wednesday. MPD has yet to release the name of a second suspect.
