(WMC) - Randal Grichuk and Kolten Wong hit long home runs, while star prospect Oscar Taveras put a two run double off the wall as part of a 14-3 Redbirds win over the Round Rock Express.
Grichuk started the game with a solo home run in the first inning, it's his fifth of the season.
Number three overall prospect in baseball Taveras roped a double of the wall in the third to extend the Redbirds' lead to 3-0. The next inning Wong drilled a three run home run to right field to make it 6-0.
Zach Petrick pitched one-hit ball for four innings, but struggled in a three run fifth. His final line was 4 and 2/3 innings, with four strikeouts to one walk. Petrick also gave up three earned runs on six hits. Lee Greenwood followed up Petrick with a scoreless inning and a third, and earned the win.
Former Cardinals closer Jason Motte pitched the seventh inning in his rehab assignment. He retired three consecutive batters and looked healthy, riding his fastball in the low to mid-90s.
Every Redbird got a hit, including a scorching 10-14 from the top three in the order, Wong, Grichuk and Taveras. The Redbirds had 18 hits overall.
