(WMC) - Dallas Police Department recruiters are in Memphis looking for officers, as the Memphis City Council ponders plans to make widespread cuts to the Memphis Police Department.

Delaney Bracken lives in Memphis, and she doesn't like the sound of another city moving into lure officers out of town. 

"I think it's kind if absurd that we're going through budget cuts and then another county or area is benefiting from that," said Bracken.

The Memphis City Council will soon vote on a fix to the $457 million city employees' unfunded pension liability.

Dallas Police Department says it's not specifically targeting MPD officers, but they are definitely welcome to apply.

However the flyer recruiters are handing out touts the starting salary at $42,941 and highlights an "outstanding pension program."

"We're currently looking for 200 officers for the City of Dallas, and to do that we go all over," said R.E. Milbern, a senior corporal with Dallas Police.

Milbern went on to say Memphis is a great area to recruit officers. "Memphis has a lot of colleges; a lot of qualified applicants."
