Thieves break into Lebanon Pike restaurants through air ducts

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Burglars targeted a pair of restaurants on Lebanon Pike overnight, but they weren't after the food.

Vittles was open for business Thursday, still serving up their specialties despite the break-in.

The owner said the burglars went through the air duct of the dry cleaning business located above, then busted holes into the walls of both Mirko Pasta Restaurant and Vittles, stealing thousands of dollars.

A construction crew working in the area stepped up and filled the holes so Vittles could open Thursday, and they said they had one of the biggest lunch crowds they've ever had.

"What I have to say to anyone out there who feels like they have to steal, come get a job. We'll hire you. We'll give you a job," said Robin Adcock, owner of Vittles.

It appears the alarm system in Vittles scared the crooks away.

The businesses did not have a video surveillance system, but Vittles is now considering adding cameras.
