(WMC) - The Ole Miss Rebels beat Louisiana-Lafayette 5-2 at "Tigue" Moore Field in game 2 of the Lafayette Super Regional.
The Rebels were able to stay alive with a strong performance from pitcher Christian Trent. Trent gave up one unearned run in seven innings, holding down the Ragin' Cajuns' tough lineup.
The game-deciding play came in the bottom of the 8th inning, with the game tied at 2. Catcher Will Allen hit a fly ball to center field with two runners on and no outs. Cajuns center fielder Seth Harrison dropped the ball, allowing Auston Bousfield to score. Ole Miss then extended its lead on a 2-run single by Colby Bortles.
Game 3 is Monday at 6 p.m.
