SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Operation Thunder to be in full force tonight. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have teamed up with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and other law enforcement agencies all over the state to crack down on the number of traffic- related deaths.

Tonight, drivers will not be allowed to refuse a DUI test because they will have on-call judges who can immediately get a warrant for a blood test.

Since Operation Thunder kicked off two weeks ago, police tell me they've already given out more than 800 citations and they believe tonight they will break 1,000.

On Friday, they were camped out on Truman Parkway. Police say the areas they block off are not random; they've had issues and complaints about this area.

They will be out again tonight, targeting other trouble spots and if you've been drinking, you will not be able to refuse a DUI test.

"It's another tool in our tool in the tool belt for law enforcement, whether you agree with it or disagree with it.  The main goal is saving lives and we want DUI offenders off the street," said GOHS Division Director Powell Harrelson.
