Savannah man surprised by soon to be kidney donor

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

One local Savannah man surprised his father by finding him a perfect match for a kidney donor.

Joseph Stephens met his soon to be donor on Tuesday night, Jeni Pare. Stephens is a retired Army veteran who is suffering from a kidney disease called PKD.

He has been on the transplant list for a year and on dialysis for two years.

Pare is a friend of Stephen's son, Jerry, and she said she is happy to help this family and was excited to find out she is a perfect match.

"Even if my gift can only give him 5, 10, 15 more years, that's years that his family is going to cherish and everybody, they are all awesome people and I am very blessed to be able to help them have more time and more quality time with him," said Pare.

The kidney donor surgeries have been scheduled for September 5.
