(WMC) - Students from churches around the country are coming to Memphis to repair homes.

It's part of the World Changers project which aims to encourage faith and help people in need.

More than 100 students from around the country are in Memphis from June 30 to July 5. They're working on a variety of projects including painting houses, putting up siding, and making general house repairs.

"We're helping a woman out with her carport and painting her house," Noah Tatro from Kansas told WMC Action News 5.

All told, 90 World Changers projects will happen in 85 American cities.

One crew spent Wednesday painting and fixing up Tatyana Anderson's mom's house, because she can't afford to make the repairs herself.

"I'm glad they actually take the time out of their day to come do stuff like this for other people," a grateful Anderson said.

The free work is done by students, supervised by contractors, and organized by World Changers.

"With World Changers we are trying to change the world. The name is so awesome," Kristen White, a World Changers employee, said.

World Changers is a Christian organization dedicated to community service projects.
