Dyersburg woman found dead in home, husband taken into custody

DYERSBURG, TN -

(WMC) – Dyersburg police were called to a home in the 100 block of Pecan Cove for a possible stabbing after a 22-year-old man ran out of house and called police from a neighbor's home around 6:40 Thursday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a possible hostage situation.

The Special Response Team and negotiators were called to the scene. Police saw a child in the second story window of the home. The child was rescued by using a ladder from the Dyersburg Fire Department.

Officers began negotiating with the suspect inside the home by phone. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Willie Harris, surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

Officers entered in the home and found the body of Harris' 55-year-old wife.

Dyersburg police are continuing to investigate this death.
