MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - The two block, brick paved area of Beale Street owned by Memphis has private security most nights, but that does not mean the new additions to Beale are not covered.

The grand opening of the new Hard Rock Café happened on Thursday night on the corner of Beale Street and 2nd Street.

"One of the best things to do for security in an urban environment is to have more vibrancy and more people that are not interested in committing a crime, in the area," Interim Manager of Beale Street Paul Morris.

Morris says the latest addition to the top of Beale Street means good things for the famous location.

With all the new spots come more people spilling outside of the two block area where private security patrols.

Morris says the Memphis Police Department's Entertainment District will cover the outlying areas.

"Their boundaries are much bigger than Beale Street. It includes FedEx Forum and it certainly includes the new palace location at 4th and Beale and it certainly includes the new Hard Rock location," Morris added.

He says another addition at 4th and Beale is a club in place of Club Crave. This is also on their radar.

"That location has had some bad history associated with it. The question is the ground cursed and I'm convinced the ground itself is not cursed. What were cursed are the operators," Morris believed.

Morris says the new operator of that space has a track record of good entertainment venues. The police and Beale Street management will watch it closely.
