A Better Mid-South: Taking care of our children

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Action News 5 general manager:

(WMC) - Over the weekend, we had another situation where a young girl was left in a hot car.

Her parents were grocery shopping.

The temperature inside the car was more than 90 degrees.

Luckily, the 15-month-old girl was rescued and is going to be okay. Her parents were arrested and charged.

The fire lieutenant who helped rescue the little girl told WMC Action News 5 he just cannot wrap his head around how you leave a child in a car on purpose or by accident and neither can I.

No one is perfect, but these are precious children and they just cannot survive this kind of mistake.

This must be a lesson for all parents. Follow this simple rule: Look Before You Lock.

Tell me how you feel about this situation, email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com or go to my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South, and leave me a message there.

Taking care of our children has to be the most important thing, they are the future of a Better Mid-South.
