(WMC) - Offering fresh views from the downtown skyline on the mighty Mississippi River to East Memphis' Clark Tower, one drone captured a bird's eye view of the Bluff City—garnering more than 1,000 views on YouTube.

The device essentially functions as a flying camera, and sometimes has more leverage than a chopper geared with a camera. In the aerial video, children at a Levitt Shell concert playfully chase the camera, which isn't too far out if their hands' reach.

David Heath operated the Quad-Copter using a unit called DJI Phantom 2+ equipped with its own integrated camera and three-axel-gimble camera stabilization system. This allows him to see live video and adjust angles and settings with on his iPhone.

Heath avoids calling the device a drone, since, he says that seems to have a negative sound to it.

As a professional aerial photographer, Heath says this new technology can be used safely and respective of personal privacy. New federal and state rules for drones are still being discussed. In Tennessee, the law of unmanned aircraft systems targets use by law enforcement.

A Petersburg, PA resident., Heath was visiting family this summer in Memphis when he shot the video under his company name Lofty Views.

"I took the opportunity to see the city in a new way. I tried to capture many locations in the city that I had enjoyed over the years," said Heath, who also lived in Memphis for 15 years. "This video was an opportunity to show off my aerial photography capabilities."
