(WMC) - Embattled Shelby County Commissioner Henri Brook maintains her seat, but she is facing several investigations along with a ethics complaint.

Brooks only has about one month left on her term as commissioner, but a special prosecutor will look into residency questions and an assault accusation.

Commissioners received an email from the county attorney naming West Tennessee D.A. Garry Brown as special prosecutor to investigate whether Brooks actually lives in district 2. Brown will also investigate her assault charge, which stems from an incident that happened near Methodist University Hospital.

The incident involved a driver who said Brooks whipped into a parking spot, causing the driver to run up onto the curb. Then the woman said Brooks yelled racial slurs at her, took her phone, and poured a bottle of water on her head.

Shelby County Commissioner Mike Ritz filed an ethics complaint with the county against Brooks.

"I filed an ethics complaint against Commissioner Brooks two or three weeks ago when I found out she had used the county print shop and the county mail office to send out some materials related to her campaign," Ritz said.

Brooks is running for Shelby County Juvenile Court clerk.

Shelby County Attorney's Office would not release a copy of the complaint, saying the matter is an ongoing investigation.

WMC Action News 5 reached Henri Brooks by phone. She said she did not know anything about the ethics investigation. She said her attorneys will not let her comment about the special prosecutor's investigation.
