(WMC) - A refrigerated FedEx truck stalled, posing a threat on a highway northeast of Houston, Texas on Friday.

Containing three 55 gallon drums of 31-15 organic peroxide type D, the truck could have exploded with the chemicals if it reached over 50 degrees.

As the temperatures rose with the refrigeration out, hazardous materials crews poured water on the truck to keep it cool, according to the NBC affiliate in Liberty County.

Neighborhoods were evacuated as a precaution.

The highway reopened an hour later when crews contained the situation.
