TRENTON, TN -

(WMC) - A West Tennessee family's dog is missing, and someone is holding it for ransom. Todd Lawson says the ransom scheme for his dog began with a text message.

"I got a text from someone saying they knew where the dog was, and if we would pay them the reward, they would tell us where the dog is," he said.

As soon as Oliver went missing, the family put up fliers. Lawson says that's the person started asking for more money for the Yorkie, according to WBBJ in Jackson, Tenn.

The family called police and investigators are trying to track the number. Lawson and his family just want to know if Oliver is still coming home.

If you have any information, call the Trenton Police Department 731-855-1413.
