BRIGHTON, TN -

(WMC) - The Tipton County woman who confessed to killing her husband in December is now indicted on a first-degree murder charge rather than the second-degree murder charge she previously faced.

Angela Brewer, 43, first told investigators in December 2013 that she woke up to the sound of an intruder outside their home. She loaded the family's shotgun and placed it on the bed next to her husband. When she leaned over to wake him, she said the shotgun discharged. At that time, she was charged with reckless homicide and aggravated assault.

After being questioned by investigators, her charges were upgraded to second-degree murder.

In the arrest warrant, investigators said Brewer admitted to pointing the gun at her husband and firing it.

Now, according to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, evidence led a Tipton County Grand Jury to return two indictments on Brewer, one for first-degree murder and another for possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

She is currently booked in Tipton County Correctional Facility on a $100,000 bond.
