MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - A mother is seeking justice after her 15-year-old son, Tyler Johnson, was killed by a hit-and-run driver one year ago.

In between thunder showers Monday, the tears fell and a family prayed that a deadly one year-old mystery might be solved.

Tyler Johnson was killed at Perkins Road and Mallory Avenue while walking home from playing basketball. A suspected hit-and-run driver has never been caught.

"And we just want to know if anybody knows anything, I mean just anything—you will be anonymous," mother Roshonda Weeden Johnson said.

Tyler attended KIPP Academy, where a vigil in the days following the hit-and-run highlighted the teen's violent death. His family hopes this smaller gathering one year later does the same.

"When you hit a kid and drag him 200 feet, and just leave him out there like he's an animal, you know, you got to pay for that," Otis Johnson, Tyler's father, said.

Memphis police believe a gold or brown sport utility vehicle was involved in the hit and run. If you have any information, please call Crime-Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274).
