(WMC) – People living near Olive Branch are fighting back against a proposal to bring a new business park to the area.
Groups organized a signature drive this weekend against the proposed Legacy Park.
Supporters say the project would bring hundreds of jobs and boost the economy.
Residents who live nearby are concerned the industrial park will bring unwanted traffic and problems around Highway 302 and Hacks Cross Road.
County leaders were set to vote on rezoning the area for the business park last week, but tabled the vote after an overwhelming response from people against the project during a public hearing.
The Desoto County Board of Supervisors is expected to take up the issue again on August 4.
