Warriors transitioning to new coach, new offense

DAMASCUS, GA (WALB) -

It's a new era of football in Damascus as the SGA Warriors begin play under new head coach Eric Folmar.

After spending two seasons as a grad assistant at Faulkner University, Folmar takes over a program that saw their last head coach, Brent Miller, quit days before a state playoff game.

They'll also be changing offensive schemes, going from a power, wing-T offense to a spread attack under Folmar.

He says it's been a transition, but he feels the Warriors are starting to get a grasp.

"Getting them out there in a receiver stance is a little different, but they've come a long way since spring practice," he says. "It is a transition getting them into the spread offense, but they're picking it up well. We've got the athletes that can do some things in it, and we'll be ok."

The Warriors kick off the 2014 season August 22 when they host Westwood.
