Rams see improvement in year two under Tone

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - The Worth County Rams are entering year two under head coach Jason Tone, and they're ready to make the leap back towards the top of Region 1 -AAAA.

Tone says he already sees a difference in his team between year one and year two.

He says the Rams have a better grasp on the wing-T offense and are playing faster. But he's been happiest with how the defense has looked.

"The knowledge of the scheme, they're getting a lot better. But also, we're stronger. We're not missing as many tackles. That was a big deal last year," Tone says. "A lot of our problems came from misalignment and missed tackles. Having the offseason and the spring and the summer to work on those things, it's really gotten us a lot better."

That will be key for Worth County, as they try to earn a state playoff spot in the new region subdivisions.

Tone says the focus in camp has been the fourth quarter, where he feels his team ran out of gas last season.

"There were just so many games last year where we didn't quite finish. We were in a lot of the ballgames, we just couldn't quite finish," he says. "So we've preached that a lot. Don't hit that fourth quarter lull. Don't hit that second half lull and just finish strong."
