Monroe must make QB decision

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Monroe Tornadoes are nothing if not consistent. They've earned a state playoff berth nine out of the last eleven years.

They know what they need to do to make it ten of twelve.

The Tornadoes have a decision to make at quarterback for the first time in four years.

Gone is former four year starter Charles Stafford, who's now at Albany State.

Enter senior Willie Jones and sophomore Ulise Williams, who have battled for the number one spot throughout camp.

Head coach Charles Truitt says he's seen good things out of both and hopes to have a starter soon.

We're hoping it's going to play itself out after the Lee County scrimmage game. Both of those guys are going to get a lot of snaps and how they're graded out after that particular game will determine who will be playing the first regular season game," Truitt says. "Whoever doesn't get it though, he can play receiver or somewhere for us."

Monroe opens the season at home on Saturday night, August 23 when they host the Perry Panthers at Hugh Mills Stadium.
