CofC's McConnell Weighs Decision Of Next Head Coach

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It's been 3 weeks since the College of Charleston fired former head basketball coach Doug Wojcik, with cause, after accusations of verbal and physical abuse were made by members of the team and athletic department staff. Each day since then, Cougars fans have been anxious for the school to name his replacement.

But they're still waiting.

The committee that school president Glenn McConnell put together to make a recommend the next head coach has already sent him 2 names to decide between. One is Wofford head coach Mike Young, the other is believed to be former CofC star Anthony Johnson. It was thought that once McConnell received the recommendation, which he did last Thursday, he would make a quick decision.

That has not been the case. But the president seems to be alright with that.

"My legal background and my experience tells me, before I make a decision make sure I have all the facts." McConnell said in an interview with Live 5 News on Tuesday. "Once I have all the facts, I will make a decision. That could come as early as this week."

McConnell implied that his decision is close to being completed.

"That's what I was hired to do was get the facts, make a decision and try to move this college forward."
