In light of a recent Zoloft lawsuit filed by a California woman in St. Clair County Circuit Court (Case No. 14-L-594), The Law Office of Melinda J. Helbock A.P.C. announces it continues to offer free case evaluations on behalf of women who took Zoloft while pregnant and whose children were born with congenital defects.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 29, 2014

According to The Madison-St. Clair Record, a California woman filed a lawsuit against Pfizer Inc., Greenstone LLC and Pfizer R&D Cortex District alleging that her daughter was born with congenital birth defects as a result of using Zoloft during her pregnancy.* The Zoloft birth defect lawsuit was filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court (Case No. 14-L-594) on Aug. 13.

According to the lawsuit, the defendant companies allegedly concealed the risks of serious birth defects from health care providers and have been charged with strict product liability, gross negligence, breach of express warranty, misrepresentation by omission and fraud by concealment, among other things.*

The claims made by the plaintiff in the recent Zoloft lawsuit are similar to those of our clients, said Melinda Helbock, Founder of T he Law Office of Melinda J. Helbock A.P.C. We represent women who have taken a number of SSRI antidepressants and who have given birth to children with a range of congenital defects, including heart defects, lung defects and abdominal wall defects.

Zoloft (sertraline) is prescribed for the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and social anxiety disorder.

It is important to note that women taking Zoloft should not stop taking their medication without consulting their physician, said Helbock. Every situation is different and only a patient and her physician can determine what is right for her.
