(WMC) - 'Tis the season for spending, but where can you find a job or make extra cash for the holidays?

With less than 100 days until the holiday season, many retailers and delivery companies are looking for help.

According to shipping giants FedEx and UPS, they are expecting the 2014 delivery season to be busier than last year.

FedEx Global Media Relations said they plan to add more than 50,000 seasonal positions including package handlers, helpers, drivers, and other support positions; 150 of those jobs are expected to open in the Memphis area.

UPS Public Relations said they will hire more than 90,000 seasonal employees across the country including package sorters, loaders, delivery helpers, and drivers.

Starting on your computer will likely be the best place to search for those seasonal and holiday position postings. Most companies have moved exclusively to online applications.

Wednesday, Eric Jones and his friend Rico Wilson headed into the Benjamin Hooks Library on the hunt to find employment opportunities online.

WMC Action News 5's Jerica Phillips told them about the seasonal job openings.

Both say the news of hiring brings hope just in time for the holidays.

"By you telling me now, I'm about to go in here and apply for it. I'm going to get on top of that now," said Wilson.

Many companies said seasonal positions are often an entry to long-term employment.
