MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - January 7, 2015. Memphis saw its first snow of the year.
With air temperatures just below freezing and ground temperatures in the teens, heavy precipitation could have caused a traffic nightmare. Thankfully, the precipitation Memphis did see was light and over soon after it started.
"I love it," Kyle Smith said. Then a shortly thereafter, "I miss it."
The snow flurries moved in (and out) around 11:00 a.m., but the cold weather is expected to last several days.
"It's supposed to be -6 almost wind chill. It's crazy," Smith said. "I don't know how we are going to manage, but we're going to get through it."
If you think it's rough walking in it, try working in it.
"We're a little worried about the temperatures tonight and tomorrow," Calvin Brock said.
Brock is working plumbing at a construction site in Bartlett, and while he doesn't like the extreme cold, he's not opposed to the snow.
"You don't like seeing a lot of snow, just enough to have a good scenery."
With winter comes the chance for freezing temperatures, snow, and ice.
