MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The big chill continues around the Mid-South. While most people are doing anything they can to avoid the cold, some are bearing it just to get things done.

If you drop by Tom Lee Park six days a week, you'll find Hebert Williamson using his workout book to stay in shape.

"Every day except Sunday. You go to church on Sunday. Praise God on Sunday," he said. "This is a good book, shoulders and all that ... I'm kind of getting up in age now, so I want to enjoy my last days."

Despite the chilly and cold conditions, he's one of many people who chose to be outside on Thursday.

"Having a good time by myself," said Wayne Capooth, who was also outside.

Some people say they will keep their routine going every step of the way, even if it means bearing the cold. But there are some people who have no choice but to be outside, like people delivering packages, cable workers, and firefighters.

The city is opening a warming center at Orange Mound Community Center from 7 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday for those who need a place to stay warm.
