MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Surveillance cameras outside of a Memphis restaurant were rolling as two men broke into a car and stole a Yorkshire Terrier named Dixie.

The couple who owns the dog was in town from Alberta, Canada to celebrate Elvis' 80th birthday. They were eating at China Inn on Elvis Presley Boulevard when the dog was stolen out of their car in the parking lot.

"We'll give you money, just bring my dog back, please," Lorie Travis pleaded.

"It looks like she was a rag doll or something," she added after watching the burglar throw her dog in the backseat of their getaway car.

Instead of getting their first look at Graceland, the couple spent their trip in the hotel room praying for their dog's return.

"She was part of the family," Travis explained. "I don't think I've ever scolded her for anything. Like, I just can't believe people can treat animals like that."

Lorie's husband, Terry, says the entire trip has been a nightmare and a return trip to Memphis is out of the question.

"I'll never come back to the city again," he said. "And I would never recommend it for anyone to come to this city."

The two men who stole the couple's dog were driving a late model gold or tan Nissan Altima or Maxima with a sunroof.
