MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A popular restaurant in Germantown, known for its healthy salads and wraps, was the scene of police cars and crime tape following a burglary earlier this the week.
Germantown police released surveillance video of the burglary on Friday. The video shows two men running into the Lettuce Eat restaurant wearing hoodies after breaking through a front window.
Police say the men were in and out in seven minutes.
"I take it kind of personal," said owner Kelcie Allen.
The video shows one suspect trying to get into the cash register. Minutes later, he's seen leaving the store with the entire machine. The other suspect left through the back door.
The two reportedly stole the restaurant's cash register, safe and money.
At just 26-years old, owner Kelcie Allen is heartbroken
"I'm not really sure who did it or why they did it. I'm trying not to let it hurt my feelings," she said.
She says she believes this week's burglary may have been an inside job.
"They knew how to get in the register and it's kind of tricky and they knew the code to get into it," said Allen.
Employees are still trying to make sense of the break in.
"It's just a great place to work. I don't see why anyone would want to taint it in any kind of way," said employee Tiarica Randall.
Customers are also showing their support.
"In my opinion, the burglary that might have hurt her, might have actually helped her because I really think that it brought her all these customers," said Dora Randallo.
"It's worrisome that someone can take advantage of you like this," said Allen.
