MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - With the upcoming threat of freezing rain, the Shelby County Office of Preparedness says they are prepared to keep residents safe.
"We're staying in close contact with the National Weather Service and will be ready to respond should conditions warrant," said Dale Lane, Director of the Shelby County Office of Preparedness.
Officials are reminding residents to check on relatives and friends, particularly those who are elderly, disabled or live alone.
According to officials, crews are prepared in the event driving becomes hazardous.
"Our trucks are ready to spread a mixture of salt and sand," said Shelby County Public Works Director Tom Needham.
