MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Shelby County students and parents had a unique opportunity to learn about educational choices available for the next school year.
For several hours, 47 optional schools showed their stuff to prospective students at the University of Memphis on Saturday.
Each school offers special classes like performing arts and engineering. The hope is to give students a chance to follow their own interests and be more prepared when it's time to go to college.
"Students and parents have different interests and needs," said Linda Sklar, Director of Optional Schools. "Our goal is to provide opportunities and choices for parents to find a program or a school that meets that child's need."
