MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Grizzlies will have a different look the next time you see them take the court.
Tayshaun Prince, who spent the last 2.5 years in Memphis, along with guard Quincy Pondexter are both on their way to new teams.
In exchange, the Grizzlies acquire forward Jeff Green and guard Russ Smith. The complicated three-team trade involving the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Pelicans became official Monday morning.
Green, a former fifth overall pick, brings 17.6 points per game to Memphis. He's shooting 43-percent from the field and over 30-percent from behind the arc.
Rookie Russ Smith has made six appearances so far this season for New Orleans. He averaged 14.3 points per game during his four-year collegiate career at the University of Louisville.
In addition to losing Prince and Pondexter, the Grizzlies gave up a protected future first round draft pick as well as next year's second round pick.
The team hopes Green and Smith can bring more offense and help the Grizzlies make a deep run in the NBA playoffs. You can see the new look Grizzlies in action against the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday, January 14 at 6:30.
