Toni Cox, 49, embezzled money from school activities including sporting events, educational field trips, testing, yearbooks, graduations, proms, and more.
An audit done in January by the Tennessee comptroller documented at least $142,873 in misappropriations. Cox was subsequently indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury.
Cox is currently free on bond. She will have the choice between serving an 8-year prison sentence with the possibility of immediate probation or a 12-year sentence to be served under the supervision of Community Corrections. She will pay restitution in full when she is sentenced on Feb. 23.
