MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

One man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to kidnap a teenager.

David Christian, 40, is charged with attempted kidnapping and domestic assault.

According to the police affidavit, on November 10, 2014, a 13-year-old girl stated that as she was walking to school in the 800 block of Breedlove Street, an unknown man driving a gray Ford Explorer followed her down the street. The man in that car has now been identified as Christian.

The girl told police that Christian pulled up beside her and told her to come talk to him. He then began looking at her butt and asked her to get in his truck.

According to police, the girl then asked Christian to stop following her. He said if she didn't get into his truck, he would "snatch her (expletive) up and then she would listen to him."

Christian then drove up the street, parked his truck, and walked up to the girl, asking if she had a boyfriend. The girl told police that he then told her to get in his truck again, and if she didn't come he would snatch her.

The girl, fearing for her life, then ran to school, told her teacher what happened, and gave police his license plate number, according to the affidavit.

Christian is set to appear in court Tuesday morning.
