Memphis Football finishes in AP Top 25 first time in school history

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - It started with the slogan 'Wait 'til this year' and ends with a season to remember.

The cherry on top for the Memphis Tiger football program: capping the year off ranked in the top 25. Memphis finishes the season ranked number 25 in the Associated Press poll, and number 23 in the Coaches Poll.

It marks the first time since Sept. 12th of 2004 the Tigers have been ranked in the AP poll, and the first time ever the team finished the season ranked.

The Tigers wrapped up a dramatic turnaround this season with a 10-3 record, a share of the American Athletic Conference title, and a win over BYU in the Miami Beach Bowl.

Memphis will start the 2015 season with the nation's fourth-longest current winning streak at seven games.

Only National Champions Ohio State, Boise State and TCU have longer winning streaks than the Tigers heading into next year.
