After Dixie was stolen, the couple took to social media and set up a
to help locate Dixie.
Three people were questioned in the dog napping. Lynda Hinkley was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, auto burglary and theft of property over $500.
According to the affidavit, police received an anonymous tip that Dixie was seen in the Quick Check Market in the 2800 block of Kimball Avenue and that Hinkley had the dog.
Officers went to the store and talked with Hinkley who admitted to buying the dog from an unknown suspect. She showed officers a picture of the dog in her phone.
Hinkley initially told police that she bought the dog for her daughter who sent the dog to someone in Texas. Police found her daughter's address and went to the 5200 block of Haleville Road. Officers located Dixie at the home.
Officers were able to scan a microchip in Dixie to verify the identity of the dog.
"I think we could drive down faster than we could arrange to fly her here," says Traviss.
The couple plans on driving through the night to pick up Dixie, even though a company has offered to fly Dixie back to Canada.
