MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A community continues to give back after a family lost their home to a devastating fire.

Patricia Brooks and her family lost everything January 9. Everyone inside the home, nine children and two adults, managed to escape.

Staff members at Sharpe Elementary School stepped up, raising money and other donations for the family.

The entire family looked through a huge supply of toys and clothes Saturday morning.

In fact, the community brought so many donations, Brooks says she's only going to take what her family needs and donate the rest to other families.

"I'm so excited about that because people gave me money, and I don't even know who it is," said Brooks. "But I thank God for that."

Brooks says she and her family are getting better every day.

She says she even found a new house in the same neighborhood so her grandchildren can continue to go to school at Sharpe Elementary School.
