MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Police are swarming all over Germantown after a string of armed robberies put homeowners on high alert.
Several investigators lined Hazelton Drive on Monday where an elderly couple was robbed at gunpoint and forced to drive the suspect to Memphis Friday night.
"This isn't a safe place for the robber to keep coming, either," said Nottoway neighborhood resident Jerry Kirksey. "They're going to get caught if they keep coming in here and the police are around."
Kirksey lives across from the most recent victims. He believes it's the back of the neighborhood that needs to be more secure. While security cameras monitor the front entrances and a metal gate lines the neighborhood on Poplar Avenue, only a wooden fence separates Poplar Pike from the upscale area.
Residents have been on edge for the last week.
The Nottoway Neighborhood Homeowners Association President says they still feel safe and have confidence in the police department.
It's currently unclear if the robberies are connected, but the perpetrators are taking people's normal sense of security along their their cash and valuables.
Police say there are no updates on the search for suspects.
