Driver of overturned car: 'It felt like a movie'

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Saturn sedan went airborne Tuesday morning on Airways Boulevard, landing upside down in a Mapco parking lot.

"It sounded like a 18-wheeler hitting a bump in the street," said Michael Irby, who witnessed the crash.

Several people rushed to help those involved in the accident.

"A lot of people were pulling over trying to assist to make sure everyone was alright," Irby said.

The driver of the flipped sedan, Demario Hudson, said he and a friend were on their way to work at FedEx.

"It felt like a movie," said Hudson. "A car pulled out in front of me as I was coming over and I flipped over."

Hudson said both he and his friend were able to crawl out of the car through the broken glass of the driver window with only minor injuries.

Hudson's passenger went to a local hospital to be examined. The driver of the other car was not injured and did stay on the scene until police arrived.

"I'm just blessed to walk away from it," said Hudson, "I panicked a little bit, but I thank God I'm still here."
