MARSHALL CO., MS (WMC) - A Marshall County man is charged in the death of his wife after her body was found in a burning house early Thursday morning. James Holloway, 64, is charged with one count of capital murder in the death of 58-year-old Lisa Holloway.Marshall County deputies responded to the house on Carey Chapel Road, west of State Highway 311, where they believe the fire was intentionally set.
"He [James Holloway] fled the scene at a high rate of speed, he went into Tennessee," Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said. "He was later arrested by Tennessee authorities at our request."
Dickerson believes Holloway convinced his wife to come to the house where he had been living.
"We believe last night he probably telephoned his estranged wife to come over, allegedly for the purpose of signing some papers," the sheriff suggested. "We do know and believe unequivocally that they were not on the best of terms and have not been for some time."
Fire investigators are working to determine how the fire was set.
Lisa Holloway's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Jackson, MS for an autopsy.
James Holloway was arrested in Collierville and extradited to Marshall County.
