MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis woman whose baby tested positive for drugs at birth, plead guilty to assault charges and is heading to prison.
Jamillah Falls failed her drug court probation and will complete the remainder of her six month sentence on the assault charges. She already has credit for 47 days, according to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.
Falls will also serve the remainder of a previously suspended three year sentence on an identity theft charge. She plead guilty to that charge in October 2013.
Falls arrest marks the first charge by MPD under Tennessee's new law that criminalizes drug use while pregnant. The law went into effect July 1, 2014.
Investigators say Falls used heroin up to two days before her daughter, Messiah, was born.
