MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Sometimes when you're searching for an answer, all you need is a sign. In this case, Pastor Vernell Stornes is quite literally trying to do just that for drivers on Egypt Central Road in Raleigh.
A large sign sits on the property of Charity Christian Church. It's a painting that depicts Jesus on the cross, with hands stretching out underneath him.
Pastor Stornes says it is a sign of something more.
"Perhaps people who would not normally look in that direction would stop and think not only about the picture, but take a reflective look at their own lives and if they have a relationship with God or Christ," he said.
Neighbors haven't complained much, but wish there was a call to action.
"I don't have a problem with it being up. I just think there needs to be more a description or something that tells the community exactly what their purpose is and what their intent was," noted one neighbor.
Stornes says the intent is simple and clear, "It's a personal reflection type of display designed to get the individual to stop and search his or her own heart."
