The 29-12 Grizzlies have their best mid-season start in history, and they take on one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference in the 27-14 Toronto Raptors.

Starting lineups:


C - Marc Gasol - 19.2 PPG, 8.3 RPG - Key stat - Gasol has a surprisingly low 103.2 on-court defensive rating, but having his best offensive season.

PF - Zach Randolph - 16.7 PPG, 11.9 RPG - Key stat - ZBo has been back for 6 games since his injury. He has 6 double-doubles.

SF - Tony Allen - 8.2 PPG, 2.11 SPG - Key stat - TA is second in the NBA in steals, he trails Steph Curry in steals per game by .002. 

SG - Courtney Lee - 11.6 PPG, 47.0% from 3 - Key stat - Lee is 2nd in the NBA in 3 point percentage.

PG - Mike Conley - 18.1 PPG, 6.0 APG - Key stat - Conley dropped 22 points on the Mavs in his first game back from ankle injuries.


C - Jonas Valanciunas - 12.6 PPG, 8.5 RPG - Key stat - The Raptors actually play better with Valanciunas off the court by 14 points/100 poss.

PF - Amir Johnson - 9.7 PPG, 6.0 RPG - Key stat - Johnson is the last ever high school player drafted into the NBA.

SF - Terrance Ross - 11.2 PPG, 37% from 3 - Ross is struggling with defense this year, giving up 7 points per 100 poss more on the court.

SG - DeMar DeRozan - 18.9 PPG, 24% from 3 - Key stat - Averaging 16.8 points since he's been back from his injury.

PG - Kyle Lowry - 19.8 PPG, 7.6 APG - Key stat -Former Grizz has been one of the best two-way point guards in the NBA.

Key storylines

The Raptors bring in one of the bench scoring bench units in the NBA, with four players averaging more than 8 points per game.

Two of those four, James Johnson and Greivis Vazquez played for the Grizzlies. Johnson earned himself a 2-year, $5 million deal after a successful 2013-14 with the Grizzlies. Vazquez was traded for Quincy Pondexter in 2011-12.

Jeff Green is in his 5th game with the Grizzlies and continues to mesh with the team. His early return is 14.8 points per game and 5.3 RPG, a higher rebound rate than usual for Green. He's been playing both small forward and power forward for the Grizz.
