MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis hit the bull's eye when the city landed Target's next distribution center.
That center is set to bring more than 400 full and part-time positions to the area.
This news comes as a relief to Memphians looking for employment.
"I've got to provide for my kids," said Christopher Davis, who has been looking for full time work for the past month and a half. "I've got two little girls growing up and I can't do much for them right now."
Target is investing $50 million into what will soon be a Target online fulfillment center on Davidson Road.
"We need more opportunities out here in Memphis to help guys like me and everyone else stay out of trouble," said resident Peter Houston.
The new jobs will be warehouse, trade, and factory jobs.
A company called Innotrac has filed a permit for the building and they're looking to bring on new people.
"Everything from pickers and packers to Tom owner drivers, even answering phones," said Greater Memphis Chamber member Mark Herbison. "These will primarily be jobs you can get with a high school education, so they'll be poor to most of the people in the community."
Giving people like Davis a chance to work and enjoy his family.
"I've been restricted with what I can do with them because my job situation, or the job I had didn't pay enough money," admitted Davis. "I'll just be able to take them out and enjoy life."
