MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis police arrested at least 10 women in a prostitution sting on Wednesday night. Each woman was arrested within a mile and a half of one of the following schools: South Park Elementary, Sheffield High and Elementary, Hamilton Middle, Dunbar Elementary.
Two of the suspected prostitutes, ages 18 and 25, seemed to make their way to South Park Elementary School from Collierville, one of the city's most affluent suburbs.
Many of whom were arrested listed Memphis in their address. Police were not able to say whether it's out of the ordinary to have suspects from the suburbs. They would only say that they find prostitutes from all over.
"That just breaks my heart. I have children that are that age, breaks my heart," said Allison Welch, who lives in Collierville.
"Just because you live in the suburb doesn't mean you're immune to this," added Louise Myrvik.
Police used a decoy to catch the suspected prostitutes, many near Lamar Avenue offering sex for as cheap as $20. Each bust happened within a mile and a half from a school.
People in Collierville say they would like to see more be done to help women on the streets, regardless of where they come from.
"Whether they come from Collierville, Millington, Frasyer, Southaven, Whitehaven, whatever. I'm sad for them. It doesn't matter if they're suburbanites of city kids," added Myrvik.
Police released the following names as the women arrested in the sting Wednesday night:
