MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - New hope has been given to two families looking for tips leading to an arrest in a cold case double murder.
The killing of 30-year-old Robert Schmidt and 26-year-old Anthony Conte has gone unsolved since July of 2012.
"Exactly 917 days today," said Schmidt's mother Brigitte as she counts the days police have been looking for her son's killer.
The men were found dead inside of a home on Yates Road. Police believe a gunman invaded the house, shooting the men in a robbery.
The victims' mothers have not given up hope. They have worked to increase the reward money for tips up to $12,000 and now a new billboard campaign has kicked off.
"If we have someone running over the city with a gun, killing people, off the streets this is good for the city," added Schmidt.
The billboard can be seen in three places across Memphis highways with a picture of both Schmidt and Conte, along with a telephone number where tips can be called in.
"You don't want your child to die before you. You want your child to out-live you," says Schmidt.
