Woman dies in Tunica mobile home fire

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A boy in Tunica, Mississippi woke up Saturday morning without a mother.

Angela Starks, 38, died alone Saturday night when her mobile home caught fire and she could not escape.

According to the Tunica County Coroner, the mobile home, located in the 1100 block of Edwards Avenue, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

According to Deputy Stewart, neighbors tried to get into the home to rescue Starks when firefighters arrived.  When the fire was put out, she was found in a bedroom.

"They tried to get in here, but they couldn't," said friend and neighbor, Linda Heard. "Every window they busted to try to get her out they couldn't. Flames were bursting everywhere."

Starks had a son who lived in the mobile home with her, but he was not home. Investigators say the blaze started in the kitchen.

The State Fire Marshal and Tunica authorities are still investigating the cause of this fire.
