MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The carousel at Libertyland was a main attraction.
Now, it's broken down and boxed up in several large trailers at the Mid-South Coliseum.
However, there's new hope for this once lively attraction.
City leaders are bringing back this merry-go-round and placing it at the Children's Museum.
"The decision has been made," said Councilwoman Wanda Halbert. "The mayor reached out to me as the district representative, and I'm going make sure the other council members know that this is the plan."
There's a lot that needed to be fixed, like cleaning off the grease from the hydraulics and putting together the carriages. City leaders say hopefully it will be back up this summer.
"There's going to be no cost to the Children's Museum," said Councilwoman Halbert. "We're going to make sure that all who participate in visiting the Children's Museum can ride it for free."
Many parents want to share this major piece of Memphis history with the next generation.
Mother Sarah Lawrence said, "It would be fun for my daughter to be able to see it like I did when I was little."
