MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department arrested 19 people during the 9th annual "National Day of Johns Arrests."
Between January 15 and February 1, multiple agencies across the country worked to target sex traffickers and patrons for their roles in promoting prostitution.
"These stings are needed to aid in the fight against sex trafficking, especially when minors are targeted," said Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong in a written statement. "Pimps and patrons should be aware that we are watching and will continue to work to protect our children."
Sunday, eight 8 of the 19 "Johns" were arrested during an operation called the "National Super Bowl Sting."
Investigators took the men into custody after the men after the suspects answered online ads involving minors.
