Woman punched while breaking up argument in Victoria's Secret

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A woman ended up in jail after going to pick up lingerie at the Oak Court Mall.

Police say the woman attacked two Victoria's Secret employees inside the store. The employees thought 24-year-old Sharicka Smith was acting suspicious. When they asked her to leave, Smith started pushing and hitting the employees.

Smith was arrested on Tuesday, February 3. She's charged with two counts of assault.

"I couldn't believe that happened," one of the victims, who wanted to remain anonymous, told WMC Action News 5. "I've never been hit before--not like that--by a total stranger."

The victim tells us she was trying to break up a heated argument between Smith and one of the store's employees, but before she could calm things down she got punched in the face.

"One of the young ladies hit me in the face and knocked my glasses off."

Other workers in the area say this is a sign of a bigger problem.

"There are certain nights that I feel are more dangerous than others," Chelse Morris, who works near the mall, said. "I definitely think there should be more security at the mall particularly.

Morris is not alone.

"People are coming into the mall, shopping, doing what they need to do," the anonymous victim said. "They need to feel safe coming into the mall."

Smith is charged with assault. Her next day in court is set for March 19th.
