Driver accused of hitting Millington officer in custody after high-speed chase

MILLINGTON, TN (WMC) - Deputies confirm they have a suspect in custody after a high-speed chase in the Millington area.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office says the suspect, later identified by Millington police as Myron Robinson, was driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The chase began sometime before noon on Tuesday. Millington police had Robinson stopped, and were about to remove him from the Jeep, when he stepped on the gas and sped off. In driving off, he injured one of the officer's hands.

At around 1:50 p.m., investigators caught back up with Robinson and brought him into custody on Van Road between Godwin and Gratitude Church Roads.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Millington Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Tipton County Sheriff's Office all participated in the capture.

According to the Millington Police Department, Robinson faces serious charges including aggravated assault for hitting the police officer's hand, evading arrest, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.
